Wildly known for his paramount energy and visceral live performances, Lunice Fermin Pierre II has erupted in recent months with high-profile, cult appearances and releases that have adhered to the legacy set by the young Canadian - a true embodiment of DJ and producer as a multi-faceted frontman, artist and performer. This summer will also see the release on his long-awaited debut album on LuckyMe, with collaborations ranging from Azealia Banks to debuts from young rappers from the Montreal scene, CJ Flemings and Speng.
With a peerless on-stage presence, Lunice was invited by Madonna to open her 2015 Rebel Heart Tour across Europe and North America whilst simultaneously releasing the surprise “180” EP on LuckyMe records. A collection of tracks unearthed from 2011 - 2012, all created in between Lunice’s innovative “One Hunned” EP and the seminal TNGHT project with fellow visionary and close friend Hudson Mohawke.
“180” reinforced the notion that Lunice’s trademark mix of electronic and hip hop laid down the blueprints for the club rap future that would become popular in the following years. From epic choirs and pounding, relentless bass to acid lines and dystopian chimes – 180 is a critically acclaimed release that was years ahead of its time.
This retrospective release followed on from his acclaimed co-production on Kanye West’s ”Blood On The Leaves" from “Yeezus", "Runnin" for Azealia Banks, work with Diplo and Mad Decent, Rick Ross and Maybach Music, Angel Haze, Leif, his participation at Red Bull Music Academy 2010 in London and before that, as an original and influential part of the Montreal Bass scene, circa 2007- 2008.
2016 already sees Lunice close the annual LuckyMe Advent calendar with celebrated new track “Look Like” and a headline February’s Red Bull Music Academy Canada tour with new music and his long awaited debut album on the horizon.
